According to the Building Code, the purpose of an audit of a building is to certify the compliance of the building with the safety requirements of the intended use of the building or to provide other assessments for the building. A distinction is made between pre-commissioned, regular and extraordinary building audits. The audit of a building is thus a statement from a competent construction specialist confirming that the building meets the requirements or what should be done to bring the building into compliance. A building audit can be performed for a building as a whole, for a part of a building or just for a few systems. The task and scope of the audit of the building is set by the audit contractor.
